Easy to maintain!

In 1 day, the pond went from cant see the fish to clear as glass. Best of all, it is easy to maintain. I have used other cheap canister filters in the past and hated them because you have to take them completely apart to clean. I love how this cleans itself like a pool filter by backwashing.

Hoped it was easier

It does work. Takes a while to get it installed. Has become another maintenance item which is not bad if it does the job well. Not sure it was worth the expense.

I'm impressed.

I had several different filters for my pond through the years. I thought I'll give this a try because cleaning the filters and media is starting to get a hassle for me. I'm 77 years old and cleaning the filter every week was getting too much for me. This was very easy to hook up, I have not buried it yet, but will in the spring and put a fake boulder over it. After hooking it up I watched the progress, not impressed, after 3 days there was not much change in the clearness of the water, it had been quite green and cloudy. But then one morning it was crystal clear I can see every people on the bottom of the pond. I turned the UV light into the 6 hours a day position fully expecting the water to get cloudy again. No, the water stayed crystal clear, I have not yet had to clean the filter, but backwashing it like a swimming pool should cut the job of cleaning the filter down quite a bit. No more slimy sponges that take forever to rinse out, no taking the filter apart. I'm very pleased with this purchase, definitely would purchase again. I will update this review if it becomes necessary.

Read the book prior to installation!

Filter arrived quickly which was a good thing. The uv socket went out in my other and needed one quickly. I liked the fact that it was sponge free though I think I may need more bio balls as its been 4 days and still not clear. A lot of floating algae so it appears to not be filtering it. Read the manual before use. It is not plug and play. You need to open it up and remove the bio balls from plastic bags before use. The other issue I have is the outflow fitting won't screw on tight enough to stop leaking so I had to add teflon tape. The outflow plastic threads stripped out easy. Not sure about this yet. We'll see what happens.

Good and bad

POSITIVES: It is very easy to use the cleaning mode and the UV light works great. It can easily be used to remove excess water too. NEGATIVES: The clips to keep the top connected are very hard to close even when it's lined up perfectly. The filter doesn't remove much mud or debris so my pond still looks muddy and it's been awhile since it was installed. For the price it should do a better job of cleaning.

Best, most user friendly filter on the market.

The media could not be loaded. Sure it doesn’t have the sponge type filtration material, so it takes a little longer to clear small particulate suspended debris (and my pond was extremely dirty due to no filter action for about two months after the last cold weather (old 7year old filter cracked), but once the filter has been “conditioned” (1-2 weeks) outstanding. After two days all algae gone, but I still could not see the bottom of my pond (3 and 1/2 feet deep). After opening the filter to add an additional packet of aquascape bioballs I was surprised at the amount of sludge that was captured. I added the additional bioballs, did a back flush (extremely easy and efficient) and could clearly see the bottom of my pond within two days. I’ve seen comments about leaks and the brackets, but if you line the brackets up correctly very little force is needed to close them (if difficulty in closing , check the alignment). As a far a leaks, don’t forget to use the rubber gasket seals that come with the hose fittings, great design.

Best pond filter ever!

Was struggling with algae. My old pump I needed to remove the top and wash out all of the sponge filters. I needed to do this at least every third day. This one all I do, when it tells me to clean it I back flush it. I would highly recommend this product! Randy

Not as good as I expected

It is quiet, as far as I can tell it’s working ok, I honestly expected much more for the price. Pump is not included so add that cost on, tubing and then one of the connectors is cracked. Instead of sending it all the way back ended up rigging it. Not overly happy with it

Easy Maintenance

I ordered this for my 400 Gallon pond this year instead of the traditional "sponge" filter. I was a bit skeptical but ended up being pleasantly surprised with how clean it kept my pond. Filter maintenance used to be a chore with having to pull the whole thing apart and rinse the sponges, etc. but this makes it a breeze. Highly recommended!

Clears water like it's supposed to

I have had an above ground pond for 2 years. This year due to the weather the water got very cloudy and almost green. I tried draining and changing water but it still turned. Before I bought this filter I could only see the fish when they came to eat. I also spent t around $100 on chemicals ect. That only last the summer season. Desperate to have a good pond I bought this filter. Within one week I could see all the way to the bottom of the pond and I haven't used any other chemicals. It seems well built and does exactly what it needs. Some people are complaining that it doesn't come with a pump but I'm not too sure who has a pond without some sort of pump to move water either to a fountain or waterfall. If your water is murky this is the solution!

Product doesn't work at all.

I bought this product to get rid of the pea soup appearance and to clarify my pond, which is what the manufacturer said it would do. It has not worked at all. There is virtually no change in my pond at all. It was a complete waste of 400 bucks. My pump and pond size are well within the specifications recommended by the manufacturer, and its been working for a month. I wish I could get my money back.

La mejor solución para mi estanque

Después de 5 días de haberlo instalado vi los resultados que esperaba. Antes tenía agua verde y era difícil dar mantenimientos a mi antiguo filtro de agua. Con este sistema el agua es cristalina, elimina las algas del agua, sin embargo se siguen generando algas en paredes, piso y piedras. Para ello existe el IonGen de Aquascape. Yo lo ocupo 24/7 con la bomba de la misma marca. Hasta ahora vale mucho la pena la inversión. Mis Kois y tortugas están sanas y los veo perfectamente nadar ya que el agua está limpia todo el tiempo. El mantenimiento es de lo más fácil ya que no tienes que estar abriendo ni lavando esponjas o arenas. Únicamente das vuelta a una perilla y el agua sale a presión en forma de retrolavado.
