Shade arrived broken.

The product is what I wanted. The condition was listed as "like new" but when it arrived, the item had not been properly packaged for shipping, and one of the shades was broken. I had to purchase a shade from Kohler, part number 1040429. this does complete my bathroom though and am glad that this was available.

Shame on Kohler

Shame on Kohler. Is this sconce attractive and well built? Yes. Then why the three-star review? Kohler has not put forth its best effort. As many others have said, the finish mounting screws are difficult to secure, but that's just the beginning. First, the mounting plates are designed backward. The adjusting nut and lock washer are placed on the backside, despite the instructions illustration showing they are on the front side. What does that mean? How will you tighten the adjusting nut from the backside?? It's impossible! I thought the online installation PDF from the Kohler website would clarify. Guess what! They have skipped the issue altogether and not shown the adjusting nut or its position in the diagram. Do you think they know there's a problem?? Now, if you're installing this fixture I bet you want it level. How easy is that? Not! Especially with the adjusting nut on the wrong side. I had to seriously modify the mounting brackets in order to make the installation possible. Why? See below. If your electrician (I am doing a remodel, so the box was installed by the electrician) has positioned the box so that the bracket holes are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, you're screwed. Why? Because the Kohler brackets are designed to be used with the holes at 12 and 6, or at least 10 and 4. Their brackets cannot work at 3 and 9. Does Kohler offer a way around? No. And finally, the philips screws securing the sconce faceplate to the mounting bracket are nearly impossible to install. As others have said, if you are installing the sconce near a wall, good luck! I used my stubby philips screwdriver and barely got the screw to go in. Worse than that, the mounting bracket threads are very (and I mean VERY) difficult to get at, even though it looks like you're dead on. What would solve that? How about a pointed tip on the machine screw? How difficult would that be? And by the way, the big clunky philips screws could be a little more inconspicuous. Boo! Kohler, you have failed to actually care about the installation experience.

Simple elegance

The simplicity of the design makes this light fixture look very "high end", yet it was very reasonably-priced.

Installation is a PITA

Nice fixture but installation was a nightmare. I consider myself handy and have installed 18-20 other various light fixtures in my house. No more Koehler unless they send a third hand to hold this up while it’s being installed. Unlike 99% of other fixtures I’ve mounted, instead of the mounting plate having outward screws that go through the fixture base and are secured with cap screws, this fixtures has two very small, set screws on the sides. Very subtle but very much a pain in the butt. Getting all the wires into the very shallow cap base of the fixture is the first challenge. Next challenge is getting the fixture base/cap over the mounting plate on both sides - the first side is easy enough but snapping the other side over the plate with one hand while holding the lamp and making sure the wires remain tucked in - isn’t. Then once in place screwing the small set screws is impossible - must of been 7-8 tries. Now it’s back to re-spackling all the digs and scratches into the wall and repaint. I spent more time on this single item than I did painting the entire bathroom! No more Koehler light fixtures. Ever.

I love Kohler products and this light is no different

I love Kohler products and this light is no different. I needed lights for two bathrooms. I immediately purchased this light for one bathroom along with the towel bar, robe hook, and toilet paper holder. It did not disappoint. The light is beautiful and definitely adds to my bathroom. I also saved some money by purchasing it on Amazon. So it was a win all around.

Great product but shipping issues

The light fixture was wonderful, but two of the lamp shades were broken when they arrived. There was no indication of glass or fragile items on the shipping box. Because these fixtures are so hard to get right now (stocks low) and we were completing our bathroom renovation , rather than shipping both fixtures back and not having replacements available, just bought replacement shades.
