The only comfortable, supportive, front zip sports bra out there

I have worn the black Amoena Medium Support, front zip Sports Bra for almost seven years now. I did not buy this bra for use following a mastectomy., but for use following an 11.5 hour complex spine surgery with osteotomy, T3 to L3 spine fusion with 2 long titanium rods and 20 titanium screws for a sudden worsening of my severe scoliosis with double curvatures with opposite rotations, which I had since early adolesence, for which I wore the old fashioned Milwaukee Brace for 6.5 years. I could no longer wear a regular bra or a sports bra, with a back closure over the neck to buttocks surgical scar, with pressure over the area of my rods and screws/ spine fusion. I couldn't manage over the head sports bras which I already had , because of my inability to bend, in order to get them on. Other front zip sports bras didn't fit, or they cut into my ribcage, etc., because I am still not perfectly straight, following surgery; which is expected. This was the only bra which fit properly, provided support to my back, and a comfortable hidden hook and loop closure underneath the easy to zip closure. I purchased 8 of them in XL to make sure that they weren't too tight. After washing the same seven bras both by hand, and by machine, for almost seven years, wearing them every day, I finally realized that they had gotten a little tight, and slightly worn. I ordered the same exact bra, in the same exact size, on Amazon. I know that they they will last and fit correctly for close to 7 years, and my back will thank me. I intend to only wash them by hand, this time.

cup area too big.

I measure 25 inches under bust, 31 inches around bust. I ordered a small. The elastic band around the bottom was not that bad, it wasn't overly tight/snug like i'd like it to be, but it wasn't ridiculously loose either. If there was an xsmall I would have definitely wanted that. As far as the cups go that part was too loose for me. It gave no support at all. It felt at least a cup size or two too large compared to what I should have. Unfortunately this only runs in S/M/L type of sizing vs band/cup sizes. I do to some extent blame my own small size for the poor fit of this bra, most people wouldnt have this problem I'm sure. I'm just not a very big person. But still, a small usually fits me and has fit in the others i've ordered. Its not a horrible product, just funky sizing and built for bigger cup sizes. If you are a smaller cup size I would look for another bra. If you are a larger cup size I'd say give it a try. Features worth mentioning: hooks to help you zip it. Zipper was a bit tough and was a bit stubborn when trying to get it down and all the way off and then hook again to re-zip. The bottom part of the zipper is just a bit stubborn. I'm sure it's high quality, I just don't want to fuss with it that much. There were flaps to cover the zipper so it doesn't rub on your skin. Material felt great. Feels like it is high quality.

comfortable

This bra is perfect for a woman who had a mastectomy. It is very comfortable and provide good support and stretches to your body shape. I wish it came in more colors.

This runs at least one size small

For reference I'm 5'0 200 lbs. I wear xl clothes on a regular basis and things are usually a bit too roomy. I put this on and it is a bit of a squeeze. I'm a little concerned about the hooks coming loose, so I'll probably get an extender, maybe 1 more row, but once it's zipped it's fine and feels secure. I'd advise against it if you have a bit of a stomach though, it's not made for us. I'm glad that I got it on here though, on amoena's site they only carry up to size L, and that would've been an immediate return. I have triangle prosthesis (both from amoena and ivita) and I just got a waterdrop prosthesis set from ivita today. I've tried this bra with both shapes and it looks better with the waterdrop than the triangle. Wearing the triangle you get more coverage, but you'll look flatter because the volume just isn't there. Wearing the waterdrop with this it looked like my old chest before the mastectomy.

Great supportive sports bra

Great supportive sports bra with zip front and several hook and eye closures. Nice comfortable fabric. Nice band that stays put. Fits great.

Awesome bra post mastectomy

Used it 1st post lumpectomy, then again post mastectomies. Very comfortable and easy to use with all the post surgery drains. Fits as expected

Very rough seams

This item appears nice when you first get it. I thought it fit decently so I decided I would keep it and threw away the packaging. However, after wearing it a couple of times I developed skin irritation along the seam lines. I now have a bra I can't wear and also can't return without original packaging. Make sure you really like it and wear it a few times before you toss packaging!

Great as a Breast Augmentation Recovery Bra

I'm a young trans woman who just had Breast Augmentation. I got this bra to help with my recovery since its front closure and supporting. Trans breast sizing is not the same as ciswomen so I was afraid this wouldnt fit me. It did and its so comfortable. Although I went to Amoena site for sizing not the Amazon button. Measurements were 34" Band 43" Bust, but thats brand new 600cc High Profiles so theyre not relaxed and settled and hanging there, which means you're sizing probably will be different.

Not true to size - XL Too big

Cups were larger than anticipated but band fit OK. For comparison, I am usually an XL or XXL in sports bras at Old Navy. 6' Tall 200 lbs. Usually a 40-42 inch band with B cup. Some regular XXL bras fit the band size on me but are too big in the cup, the way this one did. I did buy a different Amoena mastectomy bra product, a lounge bra, in XL and it fit me like a glove. Not sure why this one was so baggy in the boobs. Would suggest going one size down. Will attempt exchange as I think it'll be a decent product once I get one to fit right. Well-made and nice fabric.

Seemed almost perfect... but fell short

It's as close as I've found yet, as it's almost impossible to find mastectomy sports bras. Fairly comfortable but a couple of major problems: First, the straps are not adjustable, so it isn't as supportive as the long line, hooks AND zipper made it look online. Secondly, and worse, there is no way to make the bottom of the front zipper comfortable. The two hook-and-eye packets are quite stiff and have square, hard edges, and although there's a little elastic bit tacked on to cover that for comfort, it only covers one of the plackets. I wore this bra for an hour after I received it and was itching and chafing and pinching from the first moment, and kept trying to adjust it to stop it digging into my midriff. I don't know why it's so hard to make a well designed mastectomy sports bra, but if I ever find one I'm going to buy fifty of them.
