Don’t know about these, yet.
These were not what I was expecting. Probably didn’t read that they were adjustable and flexible. The first time I used one, it didn’t connect properly and part of my pie edge was exposed. I’ll try them a couple more times to see if I can make them work.

Best Pie Crust Protector Ever!
I bake pies a lot and I have used just about every pie crust protector on the market and have thrown them all away. I had settled for using strips of foil strung together to protect my pie crusts. These pie crust protectors not only were easy to use but they did the job. I have used them to bake single crust pies as well as double crust pies and they did an outstanding job. The pie crust protectors were very easy to clean. There are very few products that I feel compelled to write a review with such high praise!

Better than old school metal rings
Not sure what I expected when I ordered these, but they are so much better than the old metal rings. Because they are adjustable they can be used with different diamter pie plates. Didn't burn myself on them taking pies out of the oven, and they washed up well.

Protector of Crusts! (can almost hear the superhero music)
Unfurled the silicone ring, Washed and dried it quickly and draped it around the crust with ease, loved the options/notches fitting standard and custom sizes pie plates, at end of the baking time, Unfurled the silicone ring, Washed and dried it quickly, and (can you also hear the superhero music?) it ABSOLUTELY protected the crust. Easy to use
I am so glad I purchased these crust protectors. They are one piece but easy to adjust for the correct size and they clean up well. Very good price as well.

Thick and work very effectively to stop scorching the edge
You can make these with foil and thats what we have done for years but how nice not to have all those bits of foil to throw away after one use because they get torn or misshapen. The guards are silicone and come in 2 sectioned strips. Mine were grey and rolled very tightly in a small box. Each can protect an 11 inch diameter down to an 8 inch diameter pie as they can adjust. You use them so the edges of your pie dont burn while you allow the top to dry out and colour up. I made a chicken and mushroom pie for tea tonight and it was the ideal opportunity to try one out as the edges do sometimes get too dark when the middle isnt quite there yet... They are very effective. I think a bit too much really. USually the edge will cook and there is a little bit in the middle of the pie crust, not quite done so the edge is quite dark by the time it is, this time the edge still looked very pale when the middle was cooked through.The whole thing was cooked fine but a little bit of brown on the edges adds to the crumbliness. You cant really adjust that as you are supposed to put the edge on at the start of cooking. I didnt want to take it off and pull the edge to pieces. For the size of pie I usually do, they are a little big but not so big that I cant work around by just overlapping a bit more. According to the instructions they can be used for pizzas too and I am definitely going to use one for that as hard pizza crust edges can be a bit disappointing. These are foodsafe, dishwashable and can stand upto 230c/446f

Handy to have for pie making
AmazonCommercial Pie Crust Shield, Adjustable Pie Crust Protector It always seems that no matter how low I set the oven temperature when baking pies, they always seem to come out with the outer crusts either dried out and not very nice, or they burn which spoils the pie. These silicone pie crust protectors should solve that problem. I have to admit to being a big fan of the AmazonCommercial range of kitchen aids. I have received several products in the past from this range and they have always been of high quality and super strong. After all, they do need to survive in a commercial environment, used each and every day, normal utensils will just not stand up to that amount of usage. These again are no disappointment. The pie crust protectors are made from silicone rubber that is non stick and is perfectly happy to be placed in a hot oven. They are supplied as a set of 2, each measure 11.02 x 1.18 x 0.59 inches. The size can be easily adjusted to suit the size pie that you are cooking, the silicone rings can fold over themselves and be clipped into place. The only proviso is that they will only work on round pies, they will not adjust for a square pie dish. These not only are heat resistant, they also are highly unlikely to stick to your cooking, so no parts of the crust are likely to break off the pie when removing these after use. Due to their non stick nature, these are so easy to clean, just drop them into soapy water for a quick rinse. To be perfectly honest I have never used one of these before, in fact I didn't know they existed. I am due to make a steak pie this week, I'm looking forward to giving these a try-out. They are a little fiddly to store as they are a strange shape and seem to have a mind of their own. I found it best to roll them up together and keep them in the little box that they came in. A simple idea that really works.
When cooking pies, tarts and even pizzas, it’s not easy to stop the crust from overcooking and sometimes burning. Some people like it like that but not in our house. The traditional covering with tin foil does help a bit but still not overly successfully. Enter stage left, two commercial pie crust protectors. The trouble with items like this is that pies, tarts and pizzas do come in different sizes. These protectors address this problem by being open-ended allowing it to overlap itself for smaller items. There is a little locking part to hold it together, making it easy to drop over the crust edges of the food. The protectors are made from silicone, so they are heat-proof up to 230°C. Fine in the oven but not under a grill. The silicone is food-grade and very easy to keep clean. They can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher. Do they work? Yes, they do and very well too. You can even vary the amount of crust cooking by applying the protector later in the cooking process. Personally, we put them on at the onset as we don’t like hard crusts. Overall, a simple idea that really works. I hope that helps.

a nice addition to my baking tools but I could live without it.
as a regular baker and pie maker I was intrigued by this design. It is flexible enough to curl and fit most of my pie dishes including an old enamel oblong one with a little fiddling. it Stops the edge of the pie from becoming to crispy or burning. It saves me making a tinfoil edge protector that gets thrown away each time. These silicone strips are reusable over and over and do their job on many different pie dish sizes and can be combined together for a very large pie. A nice addition to my baking tools, but I could live without it.
