Great shorts at a great price

My favorite cargo shorts are Lee Wyoming, but they’re not really all that cheap. This is where these Amazon Essentials shorts come in. I needed an extra pair for an upcoming trip, so in lieu of spending the cash on some more Lee’s, I thought I’d give these a shot. I’m very pleased with the quality and fit. The length is great too. It’s very likely I’ll be ordering more of these as my older shorts wear out. There are a few suggestions I have to make a great product even better, though. First, the Lee cargo shorts have a dedicated phone pocket on the right side. Would love to see that on these shorts. Also, would love for the pockets to be a bit deeper. Lastly, I haven’t had a problem with it, but I did see a complaint on another review about the button on the pockets. They’re covered by a sewn flap, which could cause some to have trouble undoing the button. I haven’t had that experience at all, but just be aware. Overall a very nice set of shorts and great quality for the price. Highly recommended.

Small waist

I wear 36 waist so I ordered 36 waist. I could barely button them up because they’re too small. Other than that they’re good shorts for the price, I’m going to order a few more in 38 waist

Similar quality to name-brand cargo shorts at half the cost.

Was pleasantly surprised to see how well these are made after reading a few of the mixed reviews here. They fit as expected and are of very similar quality to cargo shorts that cost twice as much. I've worn these off and on for about a month now and have not seen an issues with durability either. I'll happily order a few more pairs as time goes on.

Best shorts I’ve found for price

I use these to work in construction. Bought 5 pair last year and 2 this year. The 5 from last year, 1.5 yes old are still holding together with no holes. Fit as expected. Comfortable.

Perfect weight, not too light or heavy.

Seems to be well made. Zipper works well. Seems like cotton which I like. 36 waist is accurate although snug. Maybe my waist is enlarging.

Decent Quality

These are comparable to Lee Dungaree cargo shorts as far as material goes. I’d like to see the buttons sewn on a little better, but the other stitching looks and feels sturdy. These fit right. Look good. I like them.

Not bad for the price

Shorts fit good and are comfortable. Ordered 2 different colors and they were different materials…one rip stop, the other not. Flaps on the back pockets are awkward. I prefer no flap back pockets.

NIce shorts, smart but functional

I bought these shorts with trepidation due to the vastly differing reviews on Amazon. Some said they were far too small and some said miles too big. One reviewer even said they were cut funny and cut into his bum crack uncomfortably. My son really needed something similar for work and I couldn't find a pair of black cargo shorts anywhere else so in the end I just went for it and ordered his normal size with my fingers crossed that they would fit OK. When they arrived he was out so I laid them up against another pair of his shorts, bought from Tesco that I knew fitted him well and the waistband was EXACTLY the same size and sure enough, when he came home and tried them on, they fitted him fine. He always wears a size 30 inch waist which is a fraction loose on him but he uses a belt and prefers them comfy. I asked him if they cut anywhere or were loose anywhere else and he did a few Ninja type moves in them to demonstrate that they were not uncomfortable, did not cut into him or restrict his movement in any way. They are not made from a stretchy fabric but the material is very nice and the shorts look smart, despite the pockets on the leg. There is no sag or loss of shape if you use the pockets, provided they are not over-loaded. So, if you are thinking about buying these shorts and are put off by the contradicting reviews, I would just go for it. Different retailers have different ideas about sizing and some cut stingily and others generously so I would just buy your normal size and have a little faith.

Great for me

As a girl, I hate that your only options for shorts are generally skin tight, very short and with tiny or no pockets. These are the opposite, and exactly what I wanted. Amazing quality especially for such a reasonable price, huge deep pockets and come down to the knee. Even after many washes they were still in good nick. After one day of wearing them I'd already ordered a second pair and my girlfriend had also ordered some! For any girls who are considering buying these - I'm a size 10 trousers and the 29 fits perfectly, whilst my girlfriend is a 14 and the 33 was perfect for her.

Why have incorrect sizing, why not just use the correct measurements?

I simply don't understand this. Amazon's guide for the product said go for a size down as they're a big fit for the size. So I did that, and sure enough, too small. What on earth is the point in that? They shouldn't stock gear which isn't accurately sized, I see no reason why clothes shouldn't be made properly, with correct sizing? Now wasted another hour as website has a bug and locker drop-off for return not selectable (spent ages on phone while they looked into it and got nowhere). Product seemed fine, quality looked fine at a glance, but no idea of durability as naturally I'm returning them.

Excellent quality

I must admit I was surprised on how good quality is of these shorts. I wanted something to wear in the hot weather while gardening and not show the marks. The material is really tough and the additional pockets come in handy. The only trouble is, my wife has got her eye on them so looks like I'm going to have to buy extra pair.

Quality? FANTASTIC!

Brilliant. Do NOT waste time hesitating, just BUY! Quality of fabric? Excellent. Fit? Very nice. Stitching? Expert. Even down to the fact that the cargo pockets are 2 button closings instead of the usual rip open hook & eye (can't say Velcro, that's a trade name) makes these shorts top quality in my humble opinion. And all at a thoroughly decent price. But they're Amazon - what else would you expect?
