I bout this to replace a cord from my WD Black exteral hard drive I bent out of shape.
Well it plugged right into my ehd like nothing went wrong in the first place. Not much more praise can be given, other than it is longer then the original in the box cord.

Needed for new Backup
I needed a longer cable than came with the external back up drive as the monitor had no USB. This cable solved it quickly, good quality and working fine.

Works but understand that USB slows over distance
Works fine to replace my original external HDD cable. Just know that you want a cable that's as short as possible. Most retail cables will be about a foot long. The shortest here is 3 feet and it causes speeds to fall by about half (at least with an external HDD). Power and data has a hard time staying true over distance with USB so know this going in. Over 3 feet and the power drops too much to run a HDD and the data transfer speeds drop by about half. With this cable it will now max out at around 40mb/s , a drop from the 80-100mb/s I got with the original cable. But it works.

Easier and more effective than using string
Digital cable reviews are hard to write because the cable either works or it doesn't. It's solid or it's flimsy. That's about it as far as 'interesting and informative' goes, and it's all anybody wants to know anyway apart from the price — and that changes pretty much every day anyway. In this case, the cable works and is solid. It costs what it costs today. Of course, cables can be used for so much more than just connecting devices. Skipping ropes for gnomes, bridles for tiny horses, speed bumps for toy cars, the list goes on. Why not use one of these cables as a washing line? Or use it to tie up larger cables? Or chew it as a particularly bitter liquorice alternative? It's worth thinking about, anyway. If we expand our expectations of what cables can do then eventually cable reviewers will have more to write about, which is good for everybody. By the way, don't actually try to chew this cable. It's not good for your teeth and it genuinely tastes disgusting. Not that I'd know, of course.

Connector too small?
I bought this cable as I had a need to place my TP-Link 3.0 USB Hub further away from my PC, incidentally this is the same TP-Link USB 3.0 Hub that is "frequently bought together" with this cable. The problem I found was that the Micro USB end of the cable would not stay seated correctly in the hub, it seems like the connector is too short by 2mm. The cable supplied by TP-Link with the hub has a positive click to it when seated correctly and needs additional force to remove it; whereas this Amazon Basics cable just falls out. This problem may not effect you but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Clearly this cable works for some people, but I ...
Clearly this cable works for some people, but I was using it for an external backup hard drive and had repeated instances of it dropping connection to the drive for a split second. This caused a complete computer crash during a large file transfer. I switched back to the (overly short) cable bundled with the HDD and haven't seen any drops yet so I'm reasonably sure the cable is at fault, and don't know of any reasons why a longer cable of the same specifications should be causing drops (a metre surely isn't long enough for there to be a greater power requirement). So I would be somewhat careful with these cables if you're using it for something critical. Yours may work perfectly, but maybe leave it in for a few minutes and listen for a 'device disconnected' sound.

THICK and STURDY
So for my use case, this isn't exactly ideal. There are two issues for me: Firstly, the cable is very thick and stiff, so I can't plug it into the socket behind my bed and use the phone plugged in because the cable just won't co-operate. It's plenty long enough, but I can't hold the phone in a comfortable position because the cable is fighting back. It won't go anywhere it doesn't want to. Secondly, the end that plugs to the phone is such a GIANT chunk. If you have a great big goose neck phone holder which has a nicely perfectly placed opening to allow you to plug your phone in.... FORGET about it. It's absolutely enormous, exactly the same size as the end that covers the 3 times thicker USB A side. Other than that, it seems to work perfectly, just be aware, that compared to the cable that came with your weird ass USB 2/3 combo connector enabled phone (which thankfully usb c now takes care of), it's not going to co-operate with you due to the heavy and stiff nature of it. It will however allow you to place your phone off of the floor while charging, you just may have to pick your angles and watch for trinkets on the mantle.

So far so good - but I never trust cheap cables to last
No reason to give these cables anything less than five stars since they work perfectly - for now. Experience has taught me, though, that cheap cables often equals short life. I will review my rating if anything goes wrong with them, so if you are reading this and there are still five stars, you'll know that my experience has not repeated itself with these cables. If I have one criticism, it's that they cable are quite stiff. No big deal as I am using them in semi-permanent situations, but I can see it might be an issue if I was regularly moving them between devices or when travelling.
