Lose an adapter!

This is a nicely built cable. I have two external hard drives that required me to use an adaptor to connect to the USB-C in my Macbook. This cable works just fine and I don't have to find an adaptor to use it.

Great for Old Hard-drives on New Mac

Most the new MacBooks only have USB-C nowadays. I had some old hard drives that came with normal USB adapters. Just what I needed to use old hard drive with my newer computer

Replaces a USB-A cable perfectly

I bought this cable to convert an external SSD drive from its original USB-A connection to a USB-C connection. On the drive end the connection is USB-3.1 Micro-B, and that does not change. What I wanted to change is the connection on the computer end. This cable replaced the original cable and everything worked perfectly. It plugged accurately into the external drive. It plugged accurately into PC. Windows immediately recognized the external drive, and I had full access. Just for testing I formatted the drive, copied files to it, and played a video from it (during the copy). Everything was 100% as expected. If you want to upgrade or switch an external device from USB-A to USB-C this might work as well for you as it did for me.

THAT IS FAST JUST FAST

Well first things first if you have 3.0 harddisk don't expect it to run faster and as you know 3.1 external harddisk are rare but an 3.1 external ssd can be found on Amazon The build quality is good and for the price it is totally worth it was able to transfer files to and from my wd my book super fast I know you have a lot of questions so let me answer a few of them 1. Why did you buy a 3.1 connector for 3.0 hard drive? Ans: well my friend lost my cable that came with the drive and I bought this because the type c connector on my motherboard was not populated 2.Why can't I find a cable that is longer than 0.9 meters ? Ans: There is a limit for cable length because the speed of the connection itself as in the case of usb 2.0 it is 5 meters after which the speed of the connection starts reducing and in case of usb 3.0 and 3.1 type a it is 3 meters as for a 3.1 type c connector it is 0.9 meters 3.Then why does my phone's type c connector longer than 0.9 meters Ans: well that's because it is a usb 2.0 or 3.0 to a type c connector mobile manufacturers use type c based ports for it's capacity to connduct electricity up to 100 watts if you find a type c on your mobile be assured that it will charge faster than a micro usb based fast charger Ifyou buy this product please take the time to write about the things you love or hate about it AS ALLWAYS THANK YOU FOR READING THIS REVIEW IF YOU FOUND THIS HELPFULL OR UNHELPFUL YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO

Si vous avez un peu suivi mes derniers commentaires, vous avez pu voir que j’ai récemment acheté un MacBook Pro. Qui dit Macbook dit aussi des tonnes d’adaptateurs ! J’ai donc acheté un tas d’adaptateur. Mais, par soucis de simplicité, j’ai aussi acheté ce câble pour mes disques durs ! ⭐️Emballage⭐️ Dans un emballage tout ce qu’il y’a de plus basique, on viendra trouver : ???? Le câble Micro-B 3.1 vers USB-C et une notice ???? Points forts ???? ???? De bonne qualité : Bien fini et solide car renforcé aux extrémités ???? Une garantie de 1 an qui fait plaisir. ???? Points faibles ???? ???? On perd un peu en rapidité par rapport au câble d’origine en USB 3.0, ce qui est bien dommage : On est loin des 10Gb/s annoncés. ???? Le câble est pour l’utilisation que j’en ai beaucoup trop long, car il mesure 90 cm ! -------- Notons que dans la description du produit il est indiqué que le produit mesure 9 cm de long -------- En bref, un produit que je ne conseille pas plus que ça, car trop long et pas très rapide. Works perfectly with Leap Motion through a Vive Pro

This type of cable is better known for connecting to external USB hard drives but I actually purchased this cable for a fairly niche requirement... and more for curiosity if it would work more than anything else. I bought a Leap Motion controller several months back which is a device that is capable of tracking your hand and finger movements for being used as a controller in various applications and VR demos. Last time I played with the Leap Motion controller with VR I needed an additional 5m USB extension to connect to a 50cm USB Micro-B cable that plugged into the Leap Motion controller so all these extra cables and joins just made the whole 'tethered to a PC experience' far worse than it already is. Being a VR enthusiast I also own a HTC Vive Pro which actually has a USB Type C connector on the headset itself, underneath the face mask, which acts as a regular USB port for plugging USB Type C devices in such as USB headphones... or... perhaps... a Leap Motion controller!? I was really happy to discover that the Leap Motion controller works perfectly when plugged into the HTC Vive Pro with this cable. However, the clearance is not great from the plug in the headset and when putting the face mask back on it feels like unnecessary pressure being placed on the USB Type C cable and connector. This is due to the extra rubber grommet around the cable where it joins the USB Type C plug. I may decide to carefully 'trim' that bit of rubber of with Stanley knife but obviously that voids the warranty on this cable but would put less pressure on the cable and port on the headset. I could only find 0.9/1m cables at the time and they are a too bit long for my little project - I actually think a 30cm cable would be the perfect length. As a result I've had to coil up the spare cable and use Velcro strips to hold it in place. It works and isn't particularly elegant but doesn't seem to negatively affect the Vive's tracking. There doesn't seem to be any decent 30cm variants of this cable about at the moment though but I'll keep looking. Build quality-wise it's pretty hard to fault this cable. The cable is a decent thickness so it's most likely shielded and the plugs feel secure and robust. My Leap Motion controller is not likely to be pushing the bandwidth boundaries so it's hard for me to test that aspect but various other positive reviews suggest that hard drives work well with it. I've bought several Amazon Basics cables over the years and I suspect I'll continue to buy more of them too as they really are great cables. Pros: - Good value for money - Decent quality, i.e. thick cable and sturdy plugs - Works perfectly with a HTC Vive Pro and Leap Motion controller - Comes well packaged Neutral: - Not gold plated plugs like some other brands but I doubt that even makes much difference these days with USB being a digital signal as opposed to analogue. Cons: - Only available in 0.9/1.0m

Built and Works better than the original USB cable

It is elegant, feels strong and works perfectly - better than all the USB cables I have had in the past. I have a dozen external Hard Disk Drives (WD, Sony, with USB 3 Micro-B cables, which work great on my late 2012 Macbook Pro and iMac and any other computers. But when I upgraded to the 2017 Macbook Pro, it did not have any USB 3 ports, so I ended up buying a USB 3 to USB Type-C adapter - but I was not getting the full write speeds with it, and that adapter cost me 3 times more than what I paid for this Amazon Basics USB 3 to USB Type-C cable, plus it just created more clutter. In the past I had very good experience in buying Amazon Basics products, and this cable is very affordable (unlike the over priced cables I see everywhere), so I bought this cable and it works better than the original cables that came with the external hard drives. The USB Type-C fits very snugly into the Macbook Pro and it is reversible, so you don't have to worry about putting the bottom or top into the Type-C port. I am using this cable on WD, SanDisk, Transcend, Seagate, Sony and Toshiba External Hard Disk Drives - works flawlessly. It is convenient, elegant and most importantly it does not clutter up my desk with adapters. Highly recommended product for those who have newer devices with USB Type-C ports and USB 3 Micro-B External Hard disk drives.

Works with 16" MacBook Pro

I've previously been using a dongle to connect my portable hard drive to my Mac due to the USB-C ports. After reading some reviews, I wasn't sure this would work, but for the price I thought I'd give it a try and I'm so glad that I did. The cable works absolutely fine with my 2TB Seagate HDD and Mac 16". I have been using this quite a lot and haven't had any errors or unexpected drops in connection. The device works as advertised and the laptop recognised the HDD straight away. The transfer speeds are in the range of whats advertised (see photo). The cable is well made and fits into the USB C port with no problems at all. I would definitely recommend this product.
