These are seconds
I got the boots for more than half off. When I received them it’s clear that they were seconds upon inspecting them. The sole was stitched on wrong on the left boot though it’s nothing that won’t let me enjoy the boots. The price reflected the fact that they were seconds but there’s nothing on the product page that indicated that fact. If you get a good price on them then just know what you might be getting. Great boot overall though.

Quality.
I need good support and good grip soles. These Allen Edmonds boots look great. I highly recommend Allen Edmonds.

Great Boot
Well made, great leather comfortable fit. After a few days wear they broke in, and now feel like a leather sock with a sole.

The boots themselves are potentially excellent but I am sure that they are seconds.
I ended up paying USD 924 to get the boots to Brazil. They arrived in a low quality, plain box that was clearly NOT from Allan Edmonds and the boots had only light paper to seperate them. Most importantly, I am SURE that they are seconds as the left boot curls up slightly at the toe the inside and does not sit flat. It is a huge shame as the boots themselves are excellent. But whomever supplied them should not be used again by Amazon.

Great Dressy Boot for Collection
Excellent boot in general. It can be had in Chrome Excel (CXL) leather made by Horween. This is a combination tanned leather with added oils. This boot had 360 degree Goodyear welt and waxed laces. The only reason that it does not get a five is because I prefer gussets on the tongue. That would prevent the boots tendency for the tongue to slip out of position. The boot is comfortable out of the box and comes in a very nice box with cloth boot bags. This boot is dignified enough to wear with jacket and tie. I would not recommend wearing the AE Higgins Mill where it will get scuffs, like on a job site. The CXL leather is known to scuff. This is a worthy addition to a collection of men's boots. For other, more rugged models I would suggest Red Wing Thoroughgood and Chippewa. Also check out Thursday for a cheaper alternative. This boot is generally a cut above these others except for Red Wing. Note that the Red Wings typically have a lengthy break in period.

This is way overrated and way too expensive for the cheap workmanship and very thin leather!!!
Like I said above, I couldn’t believe when I got these things!!! I thought for a minute that they were fake!!! The leather Is thin and will wear out very quickly, the soles are ridiculous… I would have to resole these… After a short period of time!!! Way overrated and way too expensive!!! Totally disappointed!!

Obvious Seconds
These are clearly not first run AE shoes; they are hardly seconds. No AE box. Bad stitching on the sole. Wrinkles. Wrong size. Lining now well stitched to upper. Not current chili Higgins Mill (current Chili has a tongue loop and a leather tongue, these have suede. Current brown has suede.) Shame on whoever is passing these off as full price AE shoes.

They are seconds or not authentic suppose to be suede tongue..
Seconds. Open grain will break down easy. Bad stitching. Thin and defective leather. Welts sewn poorly. Heals different shapes and sizes.

Nice Looking Casual/Dress Boot !!
These are not my first pair of Allen Edmonds. All my previous pairs I purchased 1/2 size smaller than what I usually wear and that seems to work for me. I purchased these Higgins Mills on sale and fully expected a used or a "seconds" pair. Although the box arrived damaged the product was in new condition. There was one loose thread and some light wrinkling on the leather around the ankle but I was okay with that since it's going to wrinkle there anyway. They were comfortable right off the bat and I was able to wear them for about three hours before I felt any pinching on my feet. A few more hours around the house should fix this. The tongue on my boots are leather and not the suede that I heard it was suppose to be made of. It also had the tab on it for the laces to thread through so the tongue doesn't move. This was a nice surprise. All and all I'm very happy with the purchase. I will update my review as I wear in my boots.

This Higgins Mills Boot is actually a shade darker than it appear on the site.
This was my third try at this boot. I finally went along with the Allen Edmonds recommended size of 11D. I wear 10.5D in dress shoes, at least I can now wear thicker socks. I chose this color which looks more casual which is what I wanted, the Brown was a little too dressy for me. I like these boots, and yes I would recommend.

Good quality, fits to size
I had a few concerns when I bought these as I had heard AEs had occasionally some quality issues such as loose threads or loose grain or fitting too large, so I had thought that these could be seconds. But at 1/2 the price of going to the AE store, I figured I could always return them if there were problems. I am happy to report there are no problems with the boot. I gave these a very detailed inspection out of the box. Leather looks great, one small natural marking on the upper ankle but I've seen worse. Fit is perfect. I bought a 12 wide and these fit just like my Red Wing Beckmans, but it feels like the break-in will be easier. A good thing about these are they are the waterproof model, so the tongue isn't the suede from the standard AE Higgins; it is the same as the boot leather with a tongue stabilizer midway up. The Danite sole is non-slip, although the heel seems a little harder than I was expecting, but I'll adjust. So why is one star missing? Because Allan Edmonds website states the chili Weatherproof leather is not Chromexcel (which was the descriptor at time of order) but is a German custome weatherproof leather instead. I'm ok with that, but details count. So, all in all, I'm happy and would buy from this vendor again.

Re-Boot
I got the Natural, which is totally different in color than the pics here, which I knew, so no problem. the AE website shows the true color, as does my pic. Using Hi CRI light source. They look more red here, but they are more cognac. Chromexel leather, they have almost a black sheen to them, on cognac brown. They feel great, I wore them for almost 3hrs the first night, just in my house, and did not want to take them off. For me, these require no break in at all. I walked about 8k in my black ones, right out of the box, and had no blisters or anything like that. Soft as butter. I have had a bit of heel pain, bottom of my heel, in my black ones. But it maybe that i am still forming the cork bed, and it will get better. Or, it's a design flaw, and I can correct it with a heel pad/insole of some sort if it doesn't get better. I will see if this is the case with my brown ones, too. But It's something to work on, Allen Edmonds. Because I have heard it in other reviews, and have experienced it now myself, and I never have any problem with that in any other pair of boots that I own/have owned. I hummed and hawed about ordering these, and that was for a pair from the warehouse store here! These are INSANELY expensive boots, lets not even pretend they are not. But, they may be worth it... I love them so much, and they look so amazing on me, that if i lost them somehow, I would probably have to re buy them even at full price. That's how nice they are. If you are a person with lots of money, then, it's a no brainer. You should order a dozen pairs in different colors/leathers/soles. Case closed. If not, then try to get yourself a pair Used: Like New, like I did. You will not regret it. The leather is like the finest glove leather, at least that's how they feel to me. Gloves for your feet, was my thought when I put them on. The 4th gen German leather on my black ones, is even softer than the Chromexel, if that's possible.. Both are lovely. I bought mine in the smallest size that I usually wear anything in, 9, and I take up to a 10 in some shoes/companies. But IMO, these should fit close to the skin. Like a glove. I have never had this feeling before from a boot. I want to wear them barefoot. It's just another level. These are not a a cold weather winter boot. Not meant to be. They are not insulated, barely lined. Again, think foot gloves. And as such, you are not going to wear a thick/wool sock with these. Dress socks really are what you wear with these. The Dailite soles are fine in the snow and ice I'm sure, but I would not wear these at much below about 6C, so I will never know. I wore them all evening outside in about 3C and my feet were cold enough. Definitely not for below zero. Never expose them to salty slushy sidewalks. They would take it, but why? Yes, I recommend them. Bury me in these things.
