If you have an hourglass figure, even plus-sized hour glass, then this is the dress for you!!!

This dress is phenomenal. It really rocks on an hourglass figure where the chest and butt are big, but the waist is smaller. I got tons of compliments when I wore it to a semi-formal wedding. :)

Great gown!

Ordered this for my grandma for my wedding. The perfect in between that she felt pretty with the cold shoulder sleeve but also dressed appropriately! She looked fantastic (she’s 96!)

Short little Italian woman - and I look like a goddess! (Well, kinda...)

Ordered this for my Mother of the Groom dress after going to a few very upscale places, trying on their dresses that were in the $750 - $2000 range. They were gorgeous gowns but there was no way I was gonna pay that kind of money for a dress I will most likely wear once. (Plus I've got three other boys to marry off.) The reason to go to the fancy places was to see what they knew would look passable on my short 5'0" ft, 152 lb curvy frame. I am not one to get dressy since I've gained weight, so I was really dreading the search for something in my price range. But I did take their advice on looking for something with diagonal ruching across the waist (to give me a more slender look) and a drape that fell straight down one side (to draw the eye up and down like a column.) Well darned if their advice didn't work even on the more reasonably priced dresses! I don't really cotton to dresses with a lot of lace or sequins or other gee-gaws. This looks elegant, not cheap or tacky (though I did make a point of getting the style of this dress with the "illusion drape that has a tiny bit of diamondy beading at one spot on the waist - NOT the one with all of the glitter everywhere.) I've actually ordered 3 different dresses in similar styles from Alex Evenings, all in size 10 or 10P, with the other two having flattering bolero jackets to hide old lady arms. Though the cold shoulder gives a lot of coverage. Btw, this one is a 10P - the length is PERFECT with my heels on.) My intention is to choose one of them and then return at least one. Very content with Alex Evenings for looking classy and not cheap.

Well made and a good fit but not flattering

I was disappointed that this dress was not flattering to me. It was high quality and well made, the sleeves especially were well constructed so the draped perfectly and it was comfortable and flowed well with movement. Unfortunately, it was just not flattering for my body type. My stomach is flat without any rolls (thanks to tummy tuck after 2 kids) but I am thick and this dress didn't give any curves even with shape wear underneath and instead made me look like a thick tree trunk from chest to feet. It may look great on someone else, but very unflattering for my personal body type. If you have another body type, try it out because it is very well made with good quality material and may be perfect if you have a curvy shape.

Perfect for my daughters wedding

The color is a true burgundy. The length was perfect. It has a slit up one side, to about my knee, classy, not too revealing. I knew I’d be wearing a full body slimmer because I have larger thighs and tummy rolls. The slit doesn’t show the thigh length slimmer and the way the dress pulls up and to the side, you can’t see any trace of the corset. Im normally a size 12-14. I’m guessing I’m a size 10 maybe 12 with the full body slimmer. ( for size reference. ) The dress is comfortable, not restricting in any way but that means it doesn’t really offer much for compression/slimming but the ruching does help camouflage your tummy a bit. I’m 5’ 3 “. 175 lbs. 38DD Only negative was the beading was loose in a few spots and one bead was missing when it arrived. I later found it in the packaging. I didn’t want to bother with the hassle of returning it but for that price, I kind of expected better beading. As long as nothing else falls off, it shouldn’t be too noticeable. Over all very satisfied. ????

Fits as expected and very pretty

Gorgeous, just wasn't what the bride wanted. Definitely "prime try" before committing to the purchase. Flattering cut. Loved the classic feel and sexy shoulder peekaboo.

Beautiful dress

It’s not wine as depicted, but eggplant

Unfortunately, the wrong size was shipped twice! But, third times the charm & the dress arrived yesterday. I normally wear a 16 in Alex Evening, but the dress wasn’t available in that size & colour. So, I followed the size chart & ordered a 14w. It fits perfectly. The colour is definitely not wine, but a lovely purple. The dress is comfortable & flattering. Im wearing it to my son’s wedding. I only gave 4 stars because it took 3 attempts to get the correct size. I returned the first 2, got one refund almost immediately, now waiting on the second refund.

Gorgeous, slimming dress

I may have ordered it a little large because I was skeptical, but it hung nicely and was very flattering. Well made and nearly $100 less expensive on Amazon than in the Laura store for the same dress!!

Is exactly as pictured, fit, quality and colour.

This dress fits true to size. It is beautiful and very flattering. I ordered the 8 petit and I don’t even have to hem it. I would definitely recommend this dress
