Not perfect...but okay
This tree is not nearly as "full" as the photo depicts. And, it sheds needles.... I discovered this upon opening the box, so outside it went for a gentle shaking over newspapers. What came to mind next was the line uttered by Ralphie's mom in A Christmas Story, in which she asks a tree lot salesman: "This isn't the kind where all the needles fall off?" However, once it was set up on a side table, fully decorated, everyone agreed it fit the bill. Before dismantling it for storage -- indeed, before un-decorating -- we noticed needles scattered on the tabletop. These were in addition to the needles swept up from the floor during the two weeks the tree was on display (in a place where it wouldn't be jostled or otherwise disturbed). So, before storage, it went back outside for another shake...and shed MORE needles. Still looks okay, but the next question is: When will it resemble Charlie Brown's little tree? Likely it will do fine over the next few holiday seasons, then we'll look for a replacement. On a positive note, we were happy to find a modestly-sized and -priced, slim profile tree that isn't pre-lit (we have plenty of string lights). Some notes about assembly: The tree arrives in two sections, with a folding tubular metal stand. The upper section, about 1/3 the tree's height, is completely covered with needles, which are really fringes cut from a vinyl material. The branches of the lower section are hinged at the trunk, swinging out like umbrella spokes; the innermost section of each branch (3" to 4") is left bare, which allows for easier storage but looks quite sparse. Once the sections are joined and secured to the base, it's important to gently bend out the "branchlets" to give the impression of fullness. (Each branch has 3 or 4 of these.) Setting up the tree yielded more shed needles; the irony is, we specifically chose an artificial tree to avoid dealing with a messy aftermath to the holiday season.

This tree worked out very well for my apartment. This is my first Christmas away from my parents and this will be perfect.

Happy with this tree!
I love this little tree. It's fat and not too full where you can't get an ornament on it. It did shed some needles but overall seems very well-made.
