Not 3-way + requires dimmable bulbs (LED bulbs flicker on low)

The description says it has a 3-way switch which isn't true. The switch has a low, high and off setting, which I don't believe is truly 3-way. You cannot turn the bulbs on separately. I wanted to use the low setting but couldn't find any dimmable LED bulbs that don't flicker. I tried the brand Wirecutter recommends and says don't flicker but could still sense a very light flickering that I was concerned would give me headaches. I want to use LED bulbs so I will use just the high setting. I bought an open box lamp and mine arrived with the switch cover off. The switch is pretty stiff and a little difficult to turn. Would be hard on an older person's hands. I think the stiff switch might be why there are so many complaints about the switch cover coming off. I was able to reattach mine using an alan wrench. Other than these issues, the lamp is attractive. I like the matte brown finish. It seems like most dark lamps are "polished bronze" (but actually black) these days. You can see the bulbs through the fabric shades so I found that lower wattage bulbs are easiest on the eyes. It provides a nice glow and lights the room well. I wish it really had a 3-way switch or that the shades were a bit thicker.

I actually like the look of this lamp

I actually like the look of this lamp, although it is slightly flimsy. I was worried about buying a lamp without seeing it in person would be a mistake, but this wasn't too bad. I wasn't uncertain about it holding up long and I wasn't wrong. The switch that toggles the lights on and off fell off after a couple weeks. Luckily It was on when it broke so we could still use the light. Well, occasionally. For some reason this lamp blows bulbs quicker than any I've ever used. In the two months it worked I replaced each bulb three times. There are three bulb in this lamp. That's almost 10 bulbs. How crazy is that? If you touched the lamp a bulb would blow. If you toggled the lamp to dim it would blow. If you turned the wall switch on it would blow. My younger kids were worried we were being haunted and refused to come into the room for a few days. After all this headache it just quite one day. My kids think the ghost left. I keep trying to explain the light was just poor craftmenship, but they are convinced. I tried to have it replace, but it was apparently too late. I can't afford to buy lamps for them to work a few weeks and then stop working. My money is limited. So even though I liked the way this looked, I can not in good conscious give it a good review.

Inexpensive, and decent quality.

I've had my lamp for 4 years now, and it's survived being shuffled between multiple rooms and houses. The quality is adequate. It's sturdy, and unless you get super close and examine it, it looks more expensive than an $80 lamp. My sole gripe is that the cover for the power knob doesn't seem to stay in place, and mine vanished during my previous move, and so now I'm having to shop for a replacement. Glue the knob cover in place and it'll be a fantastic product for you.

My experience was a great experience.

I was worried about purchasing this product because of the reviews but I'm glad I purchased it anyway. My lampshades straightened up a few days after purchasing it. The lampshades do not feel cheap like IKEA because it is made of cloth. I loved the design that reflects Chinese lanterns. It's whimsical and clean looking. The lamp is sturdy and I have had no issue with it falling over. It's actually quite heavy for a floor lamp. I also love the two different light brightness options. The dim really gives your house a romantic, cozy feeling. Update: I've had this lamp for 6 months now. I absolutely love it still. I noticed some people have bulb issues. You have to buy dimmable bulbs or you'll hear a buzzing sound. Regular bulbs are not to be used on dimmable light fixtures or lamps. If you buy the right bulbs you won't hear a buzzing sound.

Cool look, but cheaply made.

I really like the look of this lamp. The shades are fabric, and have an interesting lantern look. However- it is very cheaply made. As I unpacked and assembled it (not difficult), I saw that one of the shades had become detached from the metal ring base at the bottom of each shade. There are 3 clips that hold each shade to the rim. One of the clips had broken. Rather than return the lamp, I just used some double sided tape to remedy the problem. However, the small metal cap that fits over the on/off switch will not stay on. I will have to replace it somehow, or just turn it on with a pair of pliers and control the on/off function from a power strip. Cool look, but cheaply made, and not worth the effort to send it back.

I think this is a great little lamp

I thought I would write this review since the other review posted is so different than my experience. The lanterns are a nice muted linen color, and they are fabric not paper. The base is a dark aged looking bronze color. It puts out a really great light and has a high or low switch. Its very easy to put together, the base is heavy so I do not have to worry about it getting knocked over easily, I have young kitties so thats a concern for me. Over all for the price I have no complaints what so ever. Its far superior to the quality of the Ikea lamps that go for this price. Amazon fulfilled mine and it came in a timely manner in great shape. I say if this suits the design in your home you will be happy with it, we love this lamp.

A bright lamp with attractive design

This lamp is attractive yet do not make my bank account bleeding. With 3 60W bulbs it gives out a lot of light, and the dimmer is perfect for watching TV. This is not of the best workmanship, but I expected that from the price. The packaging is quite flimsy, when I pull the lamp out from styrofoam protective mold, the styrofoam totally fell into small pieces, making returning unpractical. Surprisingly, the lamp itself was not damaged, and when I install everything, it looks just as pictured. I am satisfied with the look but I'm a little disappointed with the workmanship and especially the packaging. ----- update: after 2 years of light use the switch broke apart. The rating is changed from 4 stars to 3 stars.
